When it comes to job interviews, there are some questions that we all expect to be asked – “Tell me about yourself,” “What are your strengths and weaknesses,” and “Why do you want this job?”

But what about those other questions that catch us off guard?

Whether you’re asked about your favorite book or how you’d survive a zombie apocalypse, it’s important to be prepared to answer any question that comes your way.

Here are some tips to help you answer any other interview question like a pro:

  1. Take a moment to think

It’s okay to take a moment to gather your thoughts before answering a question. Take a deep breath, repeat the question in your head, and think about your response. It’s better to take a moment to compose yourself than to blurt out an answer you’re not happy with.

  1. Be honest

Even if you’re asked a question that seems irrelevant or off-topic, it’s essential to be honest in your response. Don’t try to make up an answer just to impress the interviewer – they’ll be able to tell if you’re not being truthful.

  1. Use the STAR method

The STAR method is a great way to structure your answers and provide specific examples. STAR stands for Situation, Task, Action, and Result. First, describe the situation you were in, then explain the task you needed to accomplish. Next, describe the actions you took to complete the task, and finally, explain the result of your actions.

  1. Ask for clarification

If you’re not sure what the interviewer is asking, don’t be afraid to ask for clarification. It’s better to make sure you understand the question before answering than to give an irrelevant answer.
